Dead Space 4 Cancelled by EA due to "Poor Sales of Dead Space 3": Rumor (Update)
- By Sehran Shaikh
"While we have not announced sales for Dead Space 3, we are proud of the
game and the franchise remains an important IP to EA," an EA
spokesperson told Joystiq.
Electronic Arts has canned Dead Space 4 (next installment in popular Dead Space franchise) and has also axed the entire series following poor sales of Dead Space 3, according to anonymous trusted source close to VideoGamer.
On condition of anonymity, the source told VideoGamer, "Dead Space 4 had been in pre-production at Visceral Games, with a small team at Visceral Montreal allegedly tasked with developing prototypes and mock-ups for the title, and collaborating on ideas for the game's narrative."
The source went on to add, "however, the project was cancelled after Dead Space 3 failed to meet its sales targets"
Furthermore, it has been rumored that Visceral Montreal (developer behind Dead Space series) have cloded down following restructuring.
We have not yet received any comment from EA on this, and so we advice our readers to take the above details with a grain of salt.
