Take-Two (publisher of next installment in GTA series, GTA V) has finally revealed the reason behind, "why the firm does not release a new Grand Theft Auto game every two years?".
According to Karl Slatoff (Take-Two Chief Operating Officer), a GTA game every two years will degrade the franchise value.
In a recent Wedbush Transformational Technologies Conference, Karl Slatoff stated, "Often times people ask us 'Why don't you come out with Grand Theft Auto every two years?' To us, that doesn't make sense, because Grand Theft Auto, every single time it comes out, is a brand new experience. You can't possibly do that in two years. And if we did that, our product would fatigue and the franchise would degrade from a value perspective."
Slatoff's point of view on new GTA game every alternate year match up with Rockstar's Leslie Benzies. Back in November 2012, Leslie stated that Rockstar can easily develop a new GTA game every year, but it won't.
Here is what Leslie exactly stated in November 2012: "We could easily have churned out a new version year after year without really progressing as a franchise, but if we did that, eventually the fans would lose interest,"
The next installment in GTA series, GTA V is schedule to launch on September 17, 2013. GTA V has been in development for over 5 years.
