Bad News Regarding Industry Incoming, Possibly PS4 And Sony Related? (Updated)

A series of recent tweets from Adam Sessler and Polygon founder Arthur Gies hints impending "bad news" concerning our beloved videogame industry.

PS4 and Xbox OneFirst of all we would like our readers to check out tweets from both Adam Sessler and Arthur Gies.

Both these guys tweeted at the same time, many fans predicted that these tweets are related to a recent RUMOR that Xbox One version of certain multiplatform games runs at lower resolution than their Playstation 4 counterparts and also that icrosoft embargoed Xbox One games due to fear of websites making comparison videos.

Although this is true, Adam and Arthur stated that it wasn't the reason why they Tweeted such things.
So the only question that needs an answer now is, What the hell could be so bad with video-game industry?

Update 1:

Marcus Beer has joined the bandwagon and stated that negative story on internet today is not about Xbox One.

Update 2:

So far these guys have confirmed it IS NOT related:

  • Xbox One
  • Xbox DRM
  • Either console GPU change
  • Either console delay

Update 3:

Take a look at this recent post by MarcusBeer on NeoGaf. It might shed some light on recent tweets from these Journalist:

Hi all, took me a while to remember my password or I would have jumped in sooner.

Its not just about the games, its reviewing the actual system 2 days before the damn thing ships.
Something feels off right now to be honest & a lot of people are pissed about it.
If you have seen anything I have done over the last 8 months, you will know I have been very happy with the way Sony has been doing things but now its time for them to shit or get off the pot and they are being damn evasive about allowing serious access to the system before launch.
I have mine preordered (ditto XboxOne) & if that is the only way I will get to have said access to the PS4 then so be it.
When people delay access to something, game or hardware, it's never for a good reason in my experience.

Update 4:

Few more clarification tweets from Adam Sessler hints that this impending news will affect gaming journalism in some sort of way, whether it be reviews, gameplay, embargos, a new association, etc.

Seems to be something more in line with a specific videogame corp doing something at an event recently

A recent Kevin Dent post on NeoGaf hints that it's an issue with Sony. And it looks like they're trying to control how content is uploaded to YouTube or Sony hasn't given the access to certain features to review. You can read full long post of Kevin Dent HERE.

Reading between the lines I formed my own opinion about the "life changing career saga" of Sessler. He was practically shilling for Micrsoft most of his career and at times very anti Sony. Now Sony does not treat him as a top dog in journalism and in my opinion he knows that the TOP console will be the PS4 in future. Now if I was him I will also be in a frantic and know my livelihood will not be the same with Sony on top. That's life Sessler son, if you burn your bridges openly and publicly where your have clearly shown your bias towards Microsoft while openly opposing Sony and now you find yourself in a pickle as you clearly know who and what console is the most popular at the moment. So then live with your own decisions you made in the past. You rode the wave of popularity from the majority eXBox fans and now you will just have to be sidelined like them in future. Remember internet warriors don't cry! PS: Lesson to gaming review Journalists: Be non biased and honest about every console platform and you will benefit the proceeds of the advertising rights on your site. But when taking sides with open bias then be prepared that the proceeds will diminish when the tables turn.

Adam sessler always tries to look like the unbiased peace and love correct journalist, but we can read 'I love xbox' on his head. After mai announcements, he came up begging people to 'wait for E3', regarding the xbox one rage. Where is he, when the ps3 gets murdered, for example, when a few hundreds of guys are angry Sony removes the 'otherOs' option, thus making a general ps3 hack more complicated. Where was he? Don't remind seeing him saying 'calm down people, it's not that important'... What's going to happen...I think I know. For avoiding Sony having 1 extra week, alone in the market, with the best cod ghosts version, and people buying the ps4 version because it's better looking, and not hurting Microsoft's baby(cod is the #1 game that can drive millions of sales, specially in NA, the xbox land), well, Activision will delay cod ghosts on BOTH xbox one and ps4, until December. That way, Sony won't be alone in the market one full week, with millions of fed up xbox fans buying the ps4 because of the better resolution, and microsoft won't suffer from that. Once again, the big millions from microsoft will talk. Listen, people, listen, NEVER, microsoft will allow cod ghosts being available FIRST and only on Ps4 for a full week. Since 2005, microsoft did all they could, spent billions, etc, only for securing their cod baby, with special exclusive content, etc. Thanks to the 10-15 million cod gamers on xbox360, microsoft has 10-15 million x 60$ each year. Thanks to cod ghosts, normally, the 10-15 million cod xbox fans would run and buy the xbox one version. This game is too important for microsoft. If my comment gets approved, you will see I was right. Microsoft will do anything with Activision, to delay ghosts on next gen, to avoid people, including millions of xbox fans, from getting the ps4 version. And now, with this resolution rumours about ghosts being only 720p on xbox one, many xbox fans who were on the fence have even more reasons to get the ps4. And microsoft knows and fears that. OK, tl;dr : Microsoft will ask Activision to delay cod ghosts on both next gen, until december, to avoid Sony from being alone in the market and having even millions of xbox fans buying the superior ps4 version. Another 50 or 100 millions will leave microsoft bank to Activision pockets.

Clearly a certain company is trying to avoid any video comparisons, at any cost.

so all the drama is because they are not getting free PS4's to bash or praise on a review? Oh dear... I'm getting a PS4 no matter what they say about it, so I couldn't care less.

Seems like a dented ego - either at the temerity of Sony for holding a centralised review event in NY, not being invited to that event, or both... Either way - why the drama

I think at least some of them are talking about this event. Marcus Beer is saying "it's about evaluating things in staged environments." and a review event is exactly that. And if I’m right this has been blown out of proportions.

Does sound like the most likely scenario is they aren't getting review units until after launch. Can understand why this would unsettle people. Though some Marcus' tweets suggest that there may be further restrition moving forward but guess we'll have to wait and see. On the flipped side if the day-one patch isn't ready then you can't blame Sony for not wanting the press reviewing an unfinished product. Everything seems to be very close to the wire for both consoles! Could be a rocky road for a few months after launch

Agreed, I'm sure any massive issues would have been noted by devs before now. This sounds very much like upset journo's to me, like throwing teddy from cot because they aren't allowed to do it smells a little of a proxbone cover for the resolution and other issues.

Without any good information, this all seems a bit overdramatic. What could a big video game corporation possibly do to get some one to reevaluate their life?

Is it not simply that Sony are saying "You are not allowed access to review it because you won't have the final 300mb Firmware, and we don't want a review of the console prior to this" ? For hournalists this would annoy because they need to get their reviews to press in good time, that means - like NOW or SOON!

It sounds to me that they are complaining that they have to wait getting the system, just like everyone else. Or maybe they just haven't been invited to the review party.
