Amazon (US) pulls 3DS from sale due to "screen-scratching issue"?

Amazon (US) has suspended sales of Nintendo's new handheld console 3DS. The retailer has clarified, "While this item is available from other marketplace sellers on this page, it is not currently offered by Amazon.com because customers have told us there may be something wrong with our inventory of the item, the way we are shipping it, or the way it's described here.

We’re working to fix the problem as quickly as possible."

According to reports from Examiner, this move from Amazon is related to an alleged screen-scratching issue, where some owners have reported marks on the left  on the 3DS upper screen.
