Nintendo cuts 3DS price in Japan

Nintendo has just a while ago officially announced that their latest handheld console Nintendo 3DS will receive a price drop in Japan.

When launched 3DS carried a price tag of 25,000 yen, Nintendo has now decided to cut the price down to 15,000 yen ($190). The reason given by Nintendo for this price cut, to build momentum for the Nintendo 3DS and to accelerate market penetration.

The new price will come into affect from August 11 in Japan. Nintendo also confirmed that price drop for other region will be carried out during second financial quarter (July – September 2011).
