Yesterday Kevin Dent, well known gaming industry insider tweeted that THQ is planning to close it doors soon, and is already looking for a buyer.
THQSledgehammer Community Manager Mathew Everett has commented on this speculation on Kevin Dent and said, "Something this big would have to have been told to us weeks ago and we just signed another contract. I doubt that we would sign more contracts this week if we are selling."
A Twitter conversation between one die-hard WWE 12 fan and Cory Ledesma and Marcus Stephenson to some extent confirmed that THQ shutting down reports are totally baseless and false.
Check out the entire Twitter conversation below.
Kazuya_TEKKEN: "YES! Hopefully the rumors are true and THQ is going down! You will be out of job, and we will FINALLY have a good WWE game!"
WWE 12 Creative Director Cory Ledesma replied, "Be careful what you ask for…"
WWE 12 Community Manager Marcus Stephenson added, "Rumors suck."
Well things are still not clear whether these reports of THQ closing its doors are TRUE or NOT. We just have to wait for official comment from THQ.
Gamepur received an official update confirming that the conversation that happend on 4Chan (we have it in the image below) was FAKE.
HK Bunny is the creator of the image below. He confirmed to Gamepur, "the image was a photoshop done for the amusement of 4chan. This was not an offical conversation or even a real one."
THQ has also released a lengthy press statement on all this shutting down rumor. We have it for you below. check it out.
"THQ has not cancelled its 2014 line-up, and has not made any decisions regarding the planned MMO. As part of the ongoing review of our business, we have made decisions to ensure that the company is strategically addressing the most attractive markets. As we have previously announced, we have dramatically reduced our commitment to the kids’ boxed games sector which leads to a significantly more focused release schedule moving forward. Our slate for calendar 2012 and beyond is focused on high-quality core games and continues to build our digital platform and business. We are excited for our pipeline of original and high-quality content along with our relationships with some of the best talent in the industry"
