  • Sony: PS VITA will have endless supply of software

Sony has admitted that after the launch of PSP, the release of software for the handheld dried up. Now fans are worried that PS VITA might suffer a similar destiny. But we can tell you that this won't be the case with PS VITA as Sony has confirmed that PS VITA will have endless supply of software.

    PS VITA

Shuhei Yoshida of Sony Worldwide Studios said, "In retrospect we did it too extreme. We were happy with the launch of PSP. We had lots of games to launch with, but because of the demand of creating games on the new consoles, we shifted resources too much and the coverage for the PSP became weak"

Sony said the firm is very much aware of the impact that they had on PSP and is preparing to ensure that same thing does not happen with PS VITA as well.

"We learnt the lessons of that experience. We’re going to make sure we will have a good, continuous supply of software on PS Vita as we continue to support the PS3 and PS Move"

  • Sony explains why PS VITA doesn't have 3D

Sony has finally explained the reason behind why upcoming handheld console PS VITA doesn't have 3D. In an interview to GameSpot, Michael Hocking suggested that glasses-free 3D gaming only works when keeping your head still and this takes away VITA's SixAxis motion functionally.

    PS VITA

"We wanted to offer a really, really high-resolution OLED screen, and the best way to do that was in 2D. At least for the first one," he said.

Hocking also mentioned about 3D support in general quoting, "A message we’ve been giving to all of our PS3 developers is add 3D where it adds something to the game. It’s not a tickbox we want on all the game boxes; we want 3D to add to the experience. The other really important thing is to do it well,"

According to us another reason PS VITA does not have 3D, is because of 3DS, it is most likely that Sony want to consumers another reason to purchase PS VITA other than 3D because they want them to buy PS3 for 3D.

  • Microsoft comments on Xbox 720

Off late their has been huge hue and cry regarding a Xbox 360 successor. Many are expecting that a new console will be announced soon.

    Xbox 720 logo

Microsoft has now commented on rumors of Xbox 360 successor dubbed as Xbox 720. In an Interview to Eurogamer, Chris Lewis said:

"I would only say it’s too long if things are stagnating. If developers are finding they’re bumping their heads against the glass ceiling of development scope, if we weren’t bringing revolutionary technology like Kinect, if we weren’t able to, frankly, completely update the UI of Xbox Live without predicating that on people buying new hardware, were those things not true I might be more in agreement with your assessment.

"I actually don’t think it’s too long if the experience continues to grow, if people continue to flock to it and they feel like they’re getting great value. That is everything we’re experiencing right now. That’s how I’d answer that."

    He further added:

"I’m being charged with more growth this year versus next year. Sure, I chew the back of my hand a little bit when I think about what that means. We had a very good year last year. But, I do also believe there is sufficient in what’s coming and exists right now for that to be a very realistic ambition. We’re not talking about any additional or new generations of hardware at the moment. We’re fixated on what we’ve got going on right now."

Later on, when Lewis was asked whether Xbox 720 was being researched and developed at Microsoft, he said:

"Sure. As you can imagine, of course we’re working on all sorts of different things. We do that all the time. Frankly, in all aspects of Microsoft, not just what we do with Xbox, our R&D investment is second to none. But to your point about life cycle timing, we’re in pretty good shape."

  • The Witcher 3 officially confirmed

At GamesCom, CD Projekt has officially announced The Witcher 3 after the successful launch of The Witcher 2: Assassin's of Kings.

    The Witcher

In an interesting interview to "The-Witcher.de", Jan Bartkowicz said (Translated), "That’s a good question Well, I think the problem that some people have is the overall impression. The first part could just as easily be a stand-alone, while the second part of a planned trilogy is now time, logically, have a very open end of the third part has to go. Consider this example for comparison to films like Pirates of the Caribbean, where the first part one self-contained story has, the later is unchangeable, but then you think, it should be a trilogy. So people have a problem then. The end of The Witcher 2 is the beginning of much larger events, while The Witcher one rather a cliffhanger ending was."

So the third installment in The Witcher series has been offically confirmed, but CD Projekt has not yet announced the launch year for the new game. We expect it to in 2013 or maybe late 2012.
