Everybody's Gone to the Rapture PS4 Exclusive Deal Similar To Tomb Raider For Xbox One? New Glorious Screenshot Out

Rise of the Tomb Raider

The biggest surprise that came from this year's GamesCom was the "timed exclusive deal" between Microsoft and Square Enix for their upcoming Tomb Raider title, Rise of the Tomb Raider. Microsoft Xbox Division Boss, Phil Spencer has clarified that they will be spending money on developing and marketing on Rise of the Tomb Raider.

In an interview to Kotaku, Spencer clarified: "Right now we have a relationship with Square and Crystal on publishing the game,"

He added: "We will clearly spend money on marketing the game, there’s no doubt about that. And we do [that] on games where we have very little to do with development, and with games that we fully develop. And we will definitely be spending money on developing the game - I want to make sure that it’s as great as it can be."

Does deal between Sony and The Chinese Room for "Everybody's Gone To The Rapture" is similar to Microsoft/Square Enix deal for Rise of the Tomb Raider. Here are some facts that point towards this:

The Chinese Room initially announced Everybody's Gone to the Rapture as PC title, but about a year after the original announcement, the game became Playstation 4 exclusive. The studio signed a partnership deal with Sony as they felt they could not raise enough money for the project through crowd funding sources or through sales of alpha versions.

"We don't have enough money or production expertise to make this game without help. We don't think we can raise enough through Kickstarter or public alpha to make this happen. We could do with production support on a game this scale. We've always wanted to make a console game. Publishers have bad reputations all too often. Hey, Sony Santa Monica are great though. We've met them a few times and really like them and their attitude." The Chinese Room said.

Now, Sony is helping The Chinese Room with funding and Sony Santa Monica with the development of Everybody's Gone to the Rapture.  So, are these two deal/cases similar at all? We have contacted a spokeperson from The Chinese Room for clarification and whether or not we will see launch of Everybody's Gone to the Rature on other platforms? Tell us in the comment section below what you guys think about both the deal, are they similar?
