A lot of really cool games were released this year. And most of the games which we want to play costs a lot of money too. But, there are a lot of games out there that are absolutely free to play. There are not a huge range of choices but, these games are definitely worth it. When we hear the word "Free Game" we are not always positive towards it, but these games will definitely prove you wrong.

1. Paladins (PC, PS4, XBOX ONE, MAC OS)

Burst into an ancient fantasy world of mighty heroes, a team based first person shooter with the implementation of RPG and strategy elements. This game isn't a rip-off of Overwatch, but it was intentionally made like that. The game is a lot of fun to play, with its wide variety of characters and well-balanced maps. But, that isn't always enough is it? The game is overall well built. If you want to experience Overwatch style gameplay free of cost, then this game is a must.

2. Gwent (PC, PS4, XBOX ONE)

The wildly popular card game from Witcher 3 finally gets a stand-alone release of its own. If you are a Witcher 3 fan, then this game requires no introduction. For those who don't know, Gwent is a collectable card game based in the Witcher 3 world. This game will be a bit complex in the beginning but as you play more it will become addictive. The game requires skill and a bit of grinding to be good at it. If you are skilled in deception and can anticipate your opponent's moves then this game is joy to play.

3. Paragon (PC, PS4)

MOBAs are generally top-down point and click games. But, Epic Games took a different path and made a third-person MOBA game known as Paragon. The game is a pure MOBA experience and is like any other MOBA the only difference being that it's in third-person, which makes it a lot more fun to play. The game is still in Beta phase but, there are a variety of characters to choose from and more are being added along with new maps, to keep the gameplay fresh.

4. Evolve stage 2 (PC, PS4, XBOX ONE)

When initially released in 2015, the game was much awaited and hyped but, after its release, Evolve was not well received by gamers. But, the 2016 re-release of the game proved otherwise. The gameplay is much more flushed, a lot of characters are added, more balancing and the most important part that it was free to play. There are a lot of different characters to choose from depending on your play style. The monsters have new powers and abilities too. Overall the game is a wonderful 4v1 multiplayer experience.

5. Unreal tournament (PC)

Epic games' second free to play game this year, the reboot of the beloved Unreal Tournament. The game is currently in Pre-alpha stage and is available free of cost. Despite being in such an early stage of development, the gameplay is pretty flushed out. It maintains the fast-paced action shooter and a large range of weapon choices. The game being this good in pre-alpha definitely gives high hopes for the final release.

6. AdVenture communist (PC, PS4)

AdVenture Communist is an indie game developed by Hyper Hippo Games and is the sequel to 2015's AdVenture Capitalist. Unlike AdVenture Capitalist where you had to buy the game in order to progress further in the game, AdVenture Communist doesn't ask you for money to complete the game. Instead, it prompts some micro-transactions, which are not essential for completion. This clicker game is a communism simulator. You start the game with a farm and as you progress you expand your farm and enter other industrial areas as well. The game is a well-made strategy clicker game, and it is free.

7. Atlas reactor (PC)

Atlas reactor is a turn-based tactics game. Imagine Overwatch, and make it a turn based tactical shooter game, and you have Atlas Reactor. Though not entirely a rip-off of Overwatch, it sure feels like Overwatch at times. The game never feels boring, and doesn't let you slack off as it keeps the pressure on you at all times, which makes it a good game. With colourful and vivid graphics, multiple characters to choose from and overall fast paced action, this game is a  must play.

8. Gigantic (XBOX ONE)

This game is an MOBA and is currently is the Beta phase. As it is an MOBA, so it is focused entirely on multiplayer, just like most of the games today. There are many characters to choose from at the starting of a Round, but once you choose a character you cannot change it until the round is over. The game has beautiful visuals with cell-shaded type graphics and gorgeous animations. Though it is still in Beta phase the game holds pretty well. And is available free to play on Xbox One exclusively.

9. Heroes & Generals (PC)

A massively multiplayer game set during the WW2,  where Germany, the United States and the Soviet Union fight for victory. There are 6 classes to choose from depending on your play-style, Infantry, Tank crew, Fighter pilot, Paratrooper, Recon, and General. The general is like a squad leader who takes decisions for the whole team. Heroes and generals is somewhat like Battlefield 1 but not as good as them. If you don't have the budget for Battlefield 1 then this game will definitely quench the thirst of BF1 to some extent. There are not many F2P games which are this well built and provide a solid gaming experience.

10. Kill Strain (PS4)

This PS4 exclusive is a different kind of game and is pretty unique. The game is an action based asymmetric MOBA. Being an MOBA it is has a top down view but, there is a twist, instead of 2 teams pitted against each other, this game has 3 teams fight in a battle arena. A 5v5v2 multiplayer game. There are two 5 player teams which consist of humans and 1 team of 2 players which control the Mutants with some powerful abilities. The game sure sounds pretty cool, with its innovative game design and as it is free to play the game is definitely recommended.
