Holiday Shopping Guide - Best Gaming Mice of 2017
The mouse is the one peripheral that most sets PC gamers apart from those that choose to enjoy their games on a console. Whether you’re playing a first-person shooter, an adventure game, or something in the high strategy category, your mouse is your constant companion. In this holiday shopping guide we list the best gaming mice of 2017, so that you can treat yourself with an upgrade, or find the perfect mouse for that pc gamer on your holiday list.
Best Gaming Mice of 2017
Not all mice are created equal. As important an input device as the mouse is, it can be difficult to decide on the perfect one for you. With so many different factors to consider, from how many buttons you need, whether to go wireless or wired, how the mouse feels in your hand, or even the price, it can be a challenge. That doesn’t even consider those poor gamers that are left-handed and can’t use a lot of the “performance-shaped” mice on the market. Our list below should offer something for everyone, regardless of what your particular mouse situation may be.
Logitech G502 Proteus Spectrum RGB
Logitech is one of the leaders in the gaming peripherals space and the Logitech G502 Proteus mouse is one of its flagship products. Not only does it come with the typical high DPI sensors that make it ideal for fast-paced gaming sessions, but it also lets you heavily customize the device’s weight to accommodate for your preferred feel. I personally use a Logitech mouse and their software to manage everything from RGB colors to macros on the various buttons, is one of the best on the market. If there is one downside to this mouse, it’s that it’s firmly designed for right-handed gamers.
Logitech G700s Rechargeable Gaming Mouse
As mentioned above, this is the exact mouse I use myself. I favor wireless mice because there is no potential snagging of cables. Battery life is of course a concern, but the Logitech G700s is fully rechargable via USB and will even operate when plugged into the provided cable. So in emergencies, you’re able to game while it is wired and charging. The button layout offers plenty of choices for most games and as with all Logitech gaming devices, the support software is top notch. Unfortunately, this mouse is also only useful for right-handed gamers.
Razer DeathAdder Elite
Razer has been making gaming peripherals since before making gaming peripherals was cool. They created the Razer DeathAdder series of mice back when your usual mouse was still grey and had two buttons. There’s a reason the Razer DeathAdder Elite made this list and it’s not just its pedigree. It has a 16,000 dpi optical sensor and is built to withstand your worst gaming rage moments. It maintains a simple sleek look without an abundance of buttons that you’ll never use. For the fashion-conscious, the Razer logo’s color can be adjusted to any color you desire. Razer’s software is not always the best in the business, but the hardware is second to none.
Razer Mamba Rechargeable Wireless PC Gaming Mouse
If you want the durability and sleekness of a Razer DeathAdder but without the wire, you should consider the Razer Mamba Wireless model. Not only does it maintain the simple trademark Razer design, but it frees you from tangles and snags of wires. The mouse comes with that must be the industry’s coolest looking docking station, so you can not only recharge your mouse when not in use, but it also looks amazing as part of your gaming rig setup. Of course you can also change the color of the RGB lighting. If anyone wants to get me a present for Christmas, please put this at the top of your list.
ROCCAT Kova – Pure Performance Gaming Mouse
ROCCAT has quietly become one of the top gaming peripheral designers in recent years. Designed in Germany, their lineup of gaming mice and keyboards has continually improved and become worth of your consideration. The ROCCAT Kova is an excellent choice for the gaming southpaw, featuring a set of thumb buttons on either side of the mouse. The Kova features a 3500 dpi sensor with an overdrive function to double that. Its braided cable keeps any hindrance to a minimum, and of course the color of the lighting can be controlled to any of over 16 million choices. For the fancy gamer, the mouse is also available in white.
SteelSeries Sensei 310 Gaming Mouse
SteelSeries is another one of those manufacturers that has taken the gaming space by storm. The SteelSeries Sensei 310 Gaming Mouse is perfect for right-handed as well as left-handed gamers. One of the standout features is the fact that the mouse buttons are separated individually, so your constant clicking on one button, won’t wear out the other one. Naturally, the RGB lighting is fully customizable, but the Sensei 310 also lets you store all your macros and color settings directly on the mouse, meaning those settings will travel with you wherever you go.
HyperX Pulsefire FPS Gaming Mouse
Last but not least, a mouse that’s a little more friendly to the budget and makes a perfect gift for that gamer in your extended family. The HyperX Pulsefire FPS Gaming Mouse doesn’t sacrifice the core features that every gamer needs. It features 6 buttons, a braided cable, optimal weight distribution, and the type of slip-resistant grip that gamers need for those particularly sweaty gaming sessions. You’re really looking at a solid gaming mouse here that does away with all the frills and features that are purely cosmetic. For someone that’s just putting together a new PC, this is an excellent choice.
There are of course hundreds of other mice available, so be sure to read reviews, ask questions, and check with friends who may own one or more of the models you’re interested in. If you’re in need of more holiday gift ideas, be sure to check out more articles in our Best of 2017 series.
