All the announcements made during the latest PlayStation State of Play presentation.
PlayStation held their latest State of Play presentation today, Sept. 24. There were quite a few things announced, so let’s jump into it.
First, let’s get the most important thing out of the way. The Last of Us Part II finally has a release date. It’s been a long time coming, but we now know the game will release on Feb. 21, 2020. Along with the release date, a new trailer came out providing some further story details. It appears Ellie is going to get revenge after an unknown group (likely the Seraphites) for killing Dina, the girl from the E3 2018 trailer. We also finally get to see what Joel looks like in this sequel.
Apart from The Last of Us Part II, there were some other high-profile games discussed during the stream. A new story trailer for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, along with a new Survival Mode teased. A demo for the upcoming MediEvil remake is available starting today. A limited-edition Death Stranding PlayStation 4 Pro bundle is available when the game launches on Nov. 8.
Aside from those big headlines, here is everything else announced during the presentation:
- Enhance and tha ltd. are working on a new game called HUMANITY that involves tons of people fighting and running into each other.
- Wattam, a game from the creator of Katamari Damacy, is coming this December.
- A game called Arise: A Simple Story starts with the player character getting burned at a funeral pyre before having to relive some of the happiest and saddest moments of his life. The game is “coming soon to PS4.”
- L.A. Noire: The VR Case Files is available for PlayStation VR now.
- Gorn is coming to PS VR this winter.
- Espire 1: VR Operative is coming to PS VR this month.
- Stardust Odyssey is coming to PS VR this winter.
- After the Fall is coming for PS VR in 2020.
- Space Channel 5 VR: Kinda Funky News Flash! is coming to PS VR this autumn.
- Sid Meier’s Civilization VI is coming to PS4 on November 22. There will also be a bundle containing the “Rise & Fall” and “Gathering Storm” expansions, which will be sold separately from the main game. This PS4 version will also feature free Nubia + Khmer and Indonesia Civ & Scenario packs, which will be exclusive to the PS4 version.
- A reminder that Oxenfree developer Night School Studio’s new game Afterparty is coming out on October 29.
- MLB the Show 19 and The Last of Us Remastered are joining the PlayStation Plus lineup in October.
