Apple Arcade’s Best Games

 Apple Arcade’s Best Games

After previously announcing the service, Apple has finally launched its on-demand Arcade for iOS devices. With over 100 different titles available, including a few major releases and several indie favorites, there’s a lot of fun alternatives for players to check out.

But that many games are sure to be overwhelming, as players want to find the best ones and get right to playing those. Where do they begin? This guide should be able to point in the right direction. Get that controller synched up and prepare for some delightful titles!

Exit the Gungeon

Exit The Gungeon – Launch Trailer [Apple Arcade]

Developed by Dodge Roll and SingleCore Games Exit the Gungeon is a bullet hell dungeon climber immediately following the adventures of the misfit ‘Gungeoneers’ and their journey for personal absolution in Enter the Gungeon. The Gungeon has become a paradox and is collapsing!

The follow-up to the indie favorite Enter the Gungeon may not be quite what players expected. But it’s a thrilling adventure nevertheless. In it, players take on a side-scrolling adventure, rather than top-down, as they take out enemies using a variety of creative weaponry. Despite the perspective shift, Gungeon is still a game that delivers on the challenge. And it looks just as charming as the original title. Just make sure you have a controller for it — those twitch skills will be necessary to survive the later stages. Consider that a warning.

Oceanhorn 2: Knights of the Lost Realm

Oceanhorn 2: Knights of the Lost Realm – Story Launch Trailer

Oceanhorn 2: Knights of the Lost Realm will be available to all Apple Arcade subscribers from September 19, 2019. Find it here:

A follow-up to the isometric Zelda-style adventure that was such a hit on other platforms, Oceanhorn 2 evolves in all the right ways. For the sequel, Knights of the Lost Realm evolves into a full-blown 3D quest, filled with majestic visuals, exciting gameplay and the kind of open-world that players can get lost in for hours on end. This game is easily one of the most dazzling looking ones available in the Apple Arcade library.

Frogger In Toy Town

Frogger in toy town Launch Trailer

Toppling blocks, falling books… Things that seem unimportant to humans can pose great danger in the frog world… Frogger is back! The classic frog-action game returns on Apple Arcade with an all-new look and the same simple gameplay. Guide the iconic amphibian forward as you evade the numerous obstacles in your path!

The gaming industry has seen quite a bit of arcade revivals these days. Why shouldn’t good ol’ Frogger get a turn? That’s what Konami did with Frogger In Toy Town, a game that takes the classic 80’s gameplay and turns it into a magnificent trip into a fun, chaotic-filled world. It’s up to the player to rescue tinier frogs, avoid obstacles, and make it home in one piece. However, with the expanded levels, it’s anything but a simple trek. Players that grew up with the classic Frogger games should check this out. And it’s perfect for newcomers as well!

GRINDSTONE – A Puzzle-Battle Splatter-Fest!

Grindstone is a new puzzle-battling color-pathing creep-smushing game from CAPY, the studio who brought you Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery EP, Might & Magic Clash of Heroes & Critter crunch. Out now on Apple Arcade!

It’s hard to describe the latest effort from the studio that released Below and Swords and Sworcery EP. It has role-playing elements and the kind of classic match-based puzzle gameplay similar to the likes of Puzzle Quest. However, it features several monsters, as well as a hero that isn’t afraid to slice and dice them. It also possesses a hand-drawn style that stands out from other Apple Arcade offerings. It’s truly a one-of-a-kind effort and is well worth trying out.

Skate City

Skate City – Apple Arcade Announcement

By: Alex Geerken Music: Erik Norderval – 30 Trips Around the Sun

It doesn’t look as if Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater will make any triumphant return anytime soon, sadly. Fortunately, indie developers are cranking out some great alternatives — like Skate City. This innovative side-scrolling skateboarding game is jam-packed with tricks, grinds, and other cool things that players can do in many settings. Practice makes perfect, and once they master everything, they’ll come off looking just as good as the Hawkster himself.

Rayman Mini

Rayman Mini : Announcement Trailer

Developed by Ubisoft Montpellier and Pastagames, Rayman Mini follows Rayman on a legendary journey as he has been reduced to the size of ant! To undo this spell, Rayman will travel through a macro-photographic world, encountering friendly allies and defeating epic bosses along the way.

Another endless runner game? Yes, but it’s based on the impressive Rayman Legends animation system, so it’s worth a look. Rayman Mini features a shrunken down version of the hero who must run, punch, and fly his way through a series of levels, in the hopes of returning to full size. The charming visuals, fast-paced gameplay, and entertaining soundtrack should be more than enough to bring Rayman fans along for the ride. And Ubisoft’s support could indicate other titles to come to Apple Arcade. Assassin’s Creed, perhaps?

Spidersaurs Apple Arcade Launch Trailer

The Spidersaurs – the tangy food source with a bite – are biting back! It’s up to punk-rocker Victoria and officer-in-training Adrian to run, jump, and shoot their way through multiple levels of over-the-top, high-octane mayhem.

WayForward is on a roll lately. After announcing its latest Shantae game (and releasing the first part of it on Apple Arcade) and releasing the awesome River City Girls for consoles, the team surprised yet again with the day one launch of Spidersaurs. This side-scrolling shooter features a fantastic, hard-rockin’ soundtrack, along with lots of enemies to shoot with two unique characters. On top of that, Spidersaur powers become available, boosting your soldier even more with unique abilities. Anyone that’s a fan of this studio should check this latest release out, without hesitation.

Sayonara Wild Hearts

Sayonara Wild Hearts is a euphoric music video dream about being awesome, riding motorcycles, skateboarding, dance battling, shooting lasers, wielding swords and breaking hearts at 200mph. Coming September 19 to Nintendo Switch, PS4, and Apple Arcade.

Last but not least on the recommendation list is Annapurna Interactive’s incredible music/rhythm/action game Sayonara Wild Hearts. Players will guide a virtual heroine through several scenarios, battling against dangerous enemies while capturing all the hearts she can find. It’s a great looking game with a memorable soundtrack and the kind of engaging gameplay that keeps drawing people back for more. Wild Hearts is well worth falling in love with when you pick it up.
