Top 10 Nintendo Switch Exclusive Games
10. Splatoon 2 (2017)
The notable thing about Splatoon 2 is that it is both entertaining in solo and multiplayer modes. The third-person shooter uses the tech of the Switch to allow for a more immersive style of gameplay, for example, players can use real-world movement to aim and look around the environment. The game is also innovative in how it’s played, where players have to keep filling up their ink tanks to be able to use their weapons in combat. To do this, the character must find puddles of ink to immerse themselves in, which makes for interesting and challenging gameplay. We suggest playing Splatoon 2 handheld versus hooked up to the TV.

2. Super Smash Brothers Ultimate (2018)
The popular crossover fighting game returns to the Switch in a display of fantastic gameplay and a return to the roots. Many fans of the series loved Super Smash Brothers Melee, but hated Brawl, stating that it was geared toward more casual fans and lacked the challenge that the previous titles had. Ultimate returns to that formula, adding new characters to an already large roster to choose from as well as a variety of maps of battle on. There’s also a new single-player campaign called “World of Light” where players will start out as Kirby, who has survived the destruction of all of the characters and must fight to save each one from an evil entity. As players progress, they unlock new characters, giving them some play time with varying fight types. There’s options to play the classic competitive game types while in the same room with friends, or on-the-go in the portable handheld version. Both play fantastically. It’s a great entry to the franchise and a decent place to start for newcomers.
1. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (2017)
Not an exclusive to Switch, Breath of the Wild was originally released on the Wii U, but to leave this game off the list for best Switch games would be a crime. The latest entry in the Zelda series is groundbreaking in its open-world exploration, ambient and serene environments, as well as the complex combat system that makes the game a powerhouse in Nintendo’s archive. Much like previous games, the story revolves around Ganon and his occupation of Hyrule, but this time around, Link is not the savior that he once was. The game begins with a defeated Link and Hyrule under the suppression of Ganon and his minions. Hyrule is in disarray and it’s up to Link to take on his enemy for a second round. The tone of the game is also on a more dreary note, which harmonizes with the story’s more melancholy elements. It plays well on both portable and console. It’s also a great entry point for newcomers to the Zelda franchise.
