Mighty No. 9

Developer: Comcept, Inti Creates, Abstraction Games, Publisher: Comcept, Release Date: April 2015

Mighty Number 9

Mighty No. 9 does look similar to Mega Man and that’s no mistake. The same creator for Mega Man, Keiji Inafune, is behind the development for Mighty No. 9. Development for the video game started up after a successful Kickstarter. In fact, the Kickstarter was so successful that at the end of its campaign deadline, the project raised over 400% of the asking goal. Because money reached past the initial goal, the development team was able to add new stages and ports for the video game. This video game plays out similar to Mega Man, as a 2D platform genre title. Gamers play as Mighty No. 9, one of the robots made in the Mighty lineup. However, he discovers that his fellow robots were infected by a virus. Now it’s up to Mighty No. 9 to defeat the fellow robots and discover the person behind the virus.

Super Time Force

Developer: Capybara Games, Publisher: Capybara Games, Release Date: Spring 2015

Super Time Force

Super Time Force is wild, wacky and completely awesome. This particular video game was a result of Game Jam, an event where developers gather in the Toronto, Ontario area to come up with concepts of video game titles in only three days. The video game tosses players into a special task force that is sent in the past and future in hopes that enemies they defeat will make present day a better place to live. Gameplay takes a mix of shooter based video games with side-scrolling action, in a sense it reminds us of Gunstar Heroes with a mix of Contra. From the very start, players are given 30 lives and upon each time a player dies, they can voluntarily rewind back to a past run and start up at any given point. There is a wide range of characters to choose from all of which come packed with their own unique weapons and powers. Additionally, gamers will be able to play as Sony Computer Entertainment chairman Shuhei Yoshida when the Ultra version of the video game release on the PlayStation 4 and PS Vita.

Developer: Supergaint Games, Publisher: Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, Release Date: Sprint 2015

What more can we say about Bastion that hasn’t already been said. The game is fantastic, a must play especially if you enjoy action based RPGs. If you’re unfamiliar with the story, Bastion tells of a story of “The Kid” as he discovers the world once again after his civilization has been destroyed. Throughout your journey, a narrator begins to tell the player everything that they were currently doing and why it’s important. Visually the game is beautiful and with multiple endings, gamers will be playing Bastion for a good while. Thankfully, if you own a PS Vita and haven’t played Bastion yet, you’ll get another chance this spring.
