Street Fighter V: PS4/Arcade Stick Controller Layout, How To Perform Variable System, Battle HUD and more
Street Fighter V, the next installment in Street Fighter video game franchise from Capcom is just a few hours away from its official launch. The game is coming to PC and PlayStation 4 only. In this guide, I will be providing details about how to play Street Fighter V i.e. "Battle Hud (detailing each and everything you see on the screen during the fight), controller layout (for both PlayStation 4 and Arcade Stick) and System". The cinematic story mode included in Street Fighter V bridges the gap between Street Fighter III and Street Fighter IV. M. Bison and Shadaloo playing a pivotal role in its events. The arcade mode endings for each character will set up their role in the main story.
At launch, there will be 16 characters available for play in Street Fighter V, out of these 16 characters four are new to the Street Fighter V franchise. Capcom has promised to release many more characters to the Street Fighter V roster via regular updates.
Detailing Battle HUD:
Check out the screenshot below, all the elements displayed on the screen is marked with number from 1-7, and below we have provided name of that particular item/element and description of it.
- Health Gauge: Current amount of heath.
- Stun Gauge: Increases as you take damage, and once the gauge reaches MAX, you will be stunned (dizzied).
- Win Mark: When winning a Round, a mark that corresponds to how the match was won is displayed.
- Time Counter: Amount of Time left in the Round.
- Character: Character currently being used.
- V-Gauge: This fills as you take hits from your opponent or land your V-Skill against your opponent. This gauge grants you access to your V-Trigger and V-Reversal. The number of V-Gauge stocks varies from character to character. Unused gauge does not carry over to the next round of a match.
- Critical Gauge: Increases when your attacks hit the opponent. Once the gauge reaches MAX, you gain access to extremely powerful Critical Arts. Unlike the V-Gauge, unused gauge carries over to the next round of match.

Street Fighter V Variable System is a cool addition and it is fun to play, but it will take some time for both newcomers and veterans to get used to it. This new feature adds a brand new dynamic to the classic 2D Street Fighter gameplay. It is designed to emphasize the distinctive abilities and characteristics of each individual fighter to make them feel even more unique when compared to other characters. Each character has different V-Trigger, V-Skill and V-Reversal effects; some of which augment their strengths, and in some cases, shore up their weakness. In order to unlock the full potential of each character you need to Master the Variable System.

Here is a list of Variable System options available in Street Fighter V and what keys to press to perform them:
Pressing MEDIUM PUNCH and MEDIUM KICK at the same time performs a Utility action that is unique to the character. For example: some characters gain new movement abilities, while some are able to nullify projectiles and attacks.
Completely separate from the EX Gauge, this fills as you take hits from your opponent or land your V-Skill against your opponent. This gauge grants you access to your V-Trigger and V-Reversal. The number of V-Gauge stocks varies from character to character. Unused V-Gauge does not carry over to the next round of a match.
Pressing HARD PUNCH and HARD KICK at the same time when your V-Gauge is at MAX unleashes a character specific action. Whether it is a super special attack, a teleport, or a power-up for a limited time, this trump card can greatly change the course of a match. Use it to your advantage to make a comeback on your opponent.
Press FORWARD and all three PUNCH or KICK buttons, depending on your character, while guarding your opponent's attack to spend one stock of V-Guage and release a counterattack. The type of counterattack varies depending on your selected character.
Throw & Throw Escape
Break through your opponent’s guard with a well-timed Normal Throw. Press Light Punch and Light Kick at the same time when close to your opponent to throw them. If you think you are about to be thrown, press Light Punch and Light Kick at the same time with precise timing to perform a Throw Escape.
Get up quickly after being knocked down by using Recovery. Input a direction OR press two or more Punch or Kick buttons at the same time after being knocked down by an opponent’s attack. If you time it right, you will get up quickly. There are two types of Recovery: Back and Neutral. See the diagram for instructions on how to perform both types.
Power up Special Moves by launching their EX versions. Press two of the corresponding Punch or Kick buttons while performing a Special Move to execute its EX version. EX Moves cost one stock of your Critical Gauge.
