Realm Royale Mage Guide | Abilities and Legendary Weapon
Hi-Rez Studios' Realm Royale offers a fresh change of pace for fans of the battle royale genre. The game features five playable character classes, loosely based on heroes from their team-based shooter, Paladins. Players can choose from Assassin, Hunter, Engineer, Mage, and Warrior, each featuring unique abilities and powerful Legendary quality weapons. Weapons, armor and abilities can be obtained by looting chests scattered across Realm Royale's giant map. Legendary rank versions of these can be crafted using Shards at one of the map's many Forges. Realm Royale’s Mage class features the following passive effect: Gain 30 percent potion effectiveness. This passive is especially handy in the early game, offering a sheer numbers advantage. It's worth noting that Mages can also regenerate health using the Ice Block ability, so it shouldn't be too difficult to stay topped off on health when out of combat. Mages don't feature the same weaknesses as they do in other fantasy games—there's no cloth armor or forced low health pools.
The Mage's Legendary weapon, Stone Spear, is extremely powerful in the hands of a skilled player. It unleashes three projectiles that can deal a total of 900 damage if all three shots hit, which combos quite well with the Mage's near-instant cast Fireball ability. Fly through the air.

- Duration: 3 / 3.5 / 4 / 4.5 (seconds)
Mages can fly! Soar briefly grants the mage the ability to fly in the direction of the crosshair. It can be a little difficult to use, as you’ll have to directly face and target your destination, so if you want vertical movement you’ll be looking to the sky. Soar can even be used to fly through windows, offering quick access to chests as well as a crafty escape when needed.
A ball of fire that passes through enemies.

Fireball is a powerful ability that is capable of dealing high burst damage. It combos well with the Mage's Legendary Weapon, Stone Spear, provided you are skilled enough to land both the Spear shots as well as the Fireball, which is now slightly more difficult to hit with than in previous patches. It's cooldown is slightly longer than it was in previous patches, but you can still combo it with Ice Block fairly easily (with good timing), offering you invulnerability while you wait for Fireball to come off cooldown.

The Mage’s Wall ability isn’t in the best place at the moment, as it’s vertical height is a bit lacking and it growth slow. This ability can be used to block enemies or to lift the Mage (or squadmates) to higher ground (when cast underfoot, similar to Mei’s Ice Wall in Overwatch). At this moment, for whatever reason, the ability is available only at Common rarity, which means you don’t have to worry about getting a Legendary version as your random ability crafted at the Forge.
Throw an explosive flask that slows enemies.

Explosive Flask is a somewhat clunky ability due to the flask’s thrown projectile trajectory. It’s a bit difficult to aim and, in all honesty, there’s not really much point to it if you already have Fireball, which is easy enough to land that you don’t need to rely on the Flask for slow. Additionally, it does only 200 damage at all ranks meaning it doesn’t really see enough improvement to justify the ability slot.

- Healing: 100 (per second, at all ranks)
The Mage’s Ice Block is practically a mandatory ability, offering a short duration invulnerability that also heals the player. It’s cooldown is incredibly short at higher ranks and it’s worth noting that, unlike some other games, the Mage’s cooldowns will still tick down while she is frozen. It's six second duration aligns perfectly with the cooldown of many of the Mage's Legendary abilities, meaning you can use an ability (say, Fireball), Ice Block, then immediately dish out a second cast pretty much the second Ice Block expires.
