Hi-Rez Studio’s Realm Royale takes the now tried and true battle royale formula for fantasy-themed spin. Realm Royale features class-based gameplay featuring five unique player classes—Assassin, Hunter, Engineer, Mage, and Warrior. You’ll start the game with no abilities besides your movement skill, but you can quickly obtain new abilities by looting chests. Each class features its own unique abilities and can craft a class-specific Legendary quality weapon. Learn more about crafting in Realm Royale in our detailed crafting guide.

Realm Royale’s Engineer class features the following passive effect: Gain 5 Armor per Second. This is an all-around useful bonus, though obviously won’t be of much help when you’re already full Armor. It’s still very handy when you’re out of Armor potions, and also contributes to the Engineer’s overall sustainability, especially while waiting for Barricade and Healing Totem to come off cooldown.

The Engineer’s Legendary weapon, Plasma Launcher, is unique in that it is the only weapon in the game that deals splash damage. Incidentally, it’s also the only weapon that can deal damage to its user, so it’s recommended to be careful where you’re firing that thing. You can learn more about this weapon and more in our Realm Royale weapon guide.

Here’s a list of all of the Engineer class abilities in Realm Royale:

Thrust

Jet upwards into the air.

  • Cooldown: 8 / 7 / 6 / 5 (seconds)

The Engineer’s movement ability, Thrust, is like having a short boost from an invisible jet pack. Upon activation, you’ll jet a short distance up into the air and have 150% increased air control for three seconds, which is sort of like having a slow fall effect, but can definitely make you an easy target. In its current state, Thrust doesn’t offer nearly as much versatile mobility as other classes’ abilities.

Fire Bomb

Throw a bomb that leaves a pool of fire.

  • Cooldown: 16 / 14 / 12 / 10 (seconds)
  • Duration: 6 (at all ranks)
  • Damage: 3 / 4 / 5 / 6 (percent of max HP per tick)

Fire Bomb works exactly like it sounds. You throw a bomb at your target, whether its a player or just wherever your reticle is targeting, which explodes into a pool of fire, dealing damage over time as long as enemies remain in contact with the fire.

Healing Totem

Deploy a totem that heals allies.

  • Cooldown: 20 / 16 / 12 / 8 (seconds)
  • Duration: 6 (at all ranks)
  • Healing: 10 / 20 / 30 / 40 (HP per tick)

Similar to the Warrior’s Flask of Healing (though, in our opinion, much better), Healing Totem offers area of effect healing to any allies in its radius. It ticks four times per second and lasts for six seconds, so it can certainly offer a substantial pick-me-up as well as offering strong sustainability in a fight.

Deploy Turret

Deploy up a turret that shoots enemies.

  • Cooldown: 20 / 16 / 12 / 8 (seconds)
  • Duration: 25 / 30 / 35 / 40 (seconds)
  • Damage: 125 (per second)

The Engineer’s Deploy Turret ability can be a bit underwhelming, as it has a relatively poor rate of fire and it’s far too easy for enemies to simply get out of line of sight before the turret even has a chance to shoot. It’s damage is unimpressive, as well, leaving it a likely candidate for a future update.

Barricade

Deploy a shield that blocks enemy shots.

  • Cooldown: 16 / 14 / 12 / 10 (seconds)
  • Duration: 4 / 6 / 8 / 10 (seconds)

The Engineer’s Barricade instantly deploys a stationary Barricade at the Engineer’s feet, providing cover for the Engineer and his squadmates and absorbing damage. This is a very powerful ability for obvious reasons, and offers great defensive cover while regenerating health with Healing Totem.
