Destiny 2 - How to Get a Sparrow
Sparrows offer speedy exploration in Destiny 2, but getting them has changed. No longer tied to a mission, you can get your Sparrow one of two ways.
A basic Sparrow can be gotten as a gift from Amanda Holiday after the main story has been completed. Just visit Amanda in her new home in the rebuilt Tower after the final mission. This appears to be the only guaranteed Sparrow in the game for now.
The second method is by opening Bright Engrams, loot chests, and praying to RNGesus. Bright Engrams can either be bought from the Eververse shop or you will get one each time you level up after Level 20.
If you really want that Sparrow fast, the best way is to swiftly grind to Level 20, which doesn’t take that long. Once your Bright Engrams start to drop, take them to Tess at the Farm and she will decrypt them and, if you are lucky, one of them will produce a Sparrow. You can also purchase Bright Engrams from her but need to be level 20 to do this.
There is a rather fancy looking Crucible Sparrow that can be purchased from Tess for Bright Dust. Once again, Bright Dust is something that drops randomly from Bright Engrams, although the Silver Starter Pack comes with 500 Bright Dust.
I get the feeling the system was designed to try and keep world exploration to a minimum until after the main story was complete. Partially to keep all that content intact and to try and keep players’ levels close to those recommended on missions, keeping the challenge intact.
Hopefully the random drops favor you and you get a Sparrow quickly! If you need help with any other aspect of Destiny 2 be sure to check out our Destiny 2 Guide Hub.
