Destiny 2 - How to Level up Fast
Knowing how to level up fast is important in Destiny 2. With the Raid on the way you need to make sure you are the right Power level to take on the challenge. Read on to find out the best ways to level up fast and make the most of your time in the game.
The most obvious way to level up in Destiny 2 is with story missions. Each one grants you XP and gear and in the early game we want to gather up both as quickly as possible. Whilst I am an advocate of taking your time and enjoying the story, this guide is about how to level up fast. Initially, the story missions provide great boosts to your loot and your XP. To get through the story fast you need to be ahead of the recommended Power levels for each mission. To do that you can take advantage of a couple of things in the game.
As soon as you have them unlocked in the EDZ, start heading out on adventures. Each one gives XP from completion (and all the XP from kills while you are doing them) and offers loot when they are done. If you need help finding the Adventures then check out our guide. Make sure you equip the Ghost that Devrim Kay gives you; it makes it much easier to find chests and resources!
Public Events are my favourite way to rapidly level up. They are large battles that take place on all the planets in the game. They show up on your map as a blue icon. Public Events are normally short, clocking in at under five minutes. They also give you completion XP and loot. You can easily jump from event to event. If they dry up on one planet, just move on to the next one. They are by far the most time effective way to farm both XP and loot quickly in the early game.
All the worlds in Destiny 2 are filled with activities that give you Tokens. Adventures, Public Events, opening chests, and high value targets all result in tokens. Keep an eye open for World Chests, golden chests hidden around the world, the provide three tokens at a time. Take the tokens to the main NPC on that world and hand them in. As you rank up you will receive Engrams containing loot that should always provide a nice Power boost over your current gear. I initially boosted my Power level a huge amount by moving from event to event, grabbing chests and Tokens on the way then handing them all in to Devrim or the relevant NPC for the planet I was on.
Lost Sectors are secret mini-boss fights hidden on each world. Their location is roughly marked with a Hunter’s Sign, but you may have to search a little to find the entrance. Just follow the path and kill any enemies you see and you will normally come to a boss fight. Take out the named enemy and you can then access the loot chest that will be in the area.
That’s it, Guardian. My best advice is to focus your grind on Public Events due to their short time investment but big payoff. Once you reach level 20 you can collect your loot from the NPC’s on each planet and start farming Bright Engrams to take to the Eververse for nice loot.
