Destiny 2 - How to Get the Prometheus Lens

Prometheus Lens

If you’ve paid a visit to the Crucible in Destiny 2‘s latest DLC, Curse of Osiris, you may have encountered the Prometheus Lens Exotic Trace Rifle. In fact, you were probably brutally murdered by it over and over again, so much so that you decided to get your own. We’re here to tell you how you can get it, as well as to add some sobering news to its current incredible power.

The Prometheus Lens is Bugged!

First, the bad news. The Prometheus Lens is not supposed to be as powerful as it currently is. It’s not meant to be the next Gjallarhorn, nor is it supposed to reign supreme in the Crucible. These moments of sheer madness are likely to be temporary as Bungie works on a fix.

How to get Prometheus Lens

Little bit more bad news here. The Prometheus Lens is unfortunately not acquired through any specific quest line. There is no way to guarantee that you will receive one, no matter how much you want it. You may try praying to RNGesus, however, as the Prometheus Lens is purely available as a random drop from an Exotic engram or other activities that can drop such high level rewards.

The best thing you can do is to ensure you cover all your Milestones. Perform as many activities that will result in Luminous Engrams and award Powerful Gear as possible.

Once you’ve been blessed by the Cryptarchs and received your Prometheus Lens, be a nice Guardian and don’t take it into the Crucible, would you? Or not, it’s your choice.

Prometheus Lens Stats and Perks

Before you go grinding away to get this Exotic Trace Rifle, let’s have a quick look at its perks.

Its exotic perk is the Prismatic Inferno which fires a Solar trace beam and generates a damaging heat field that grows while the weapon continues to fire.

The following perks round out the Prometheus Lens:

  • Chambered Compensator: Stable barrel attachment.

    • Increases stability
    • Moderately controls recoil
    • Slightly decreases handling speed
  • Projection Fuse: Distance optimizations.
    • Increases range
  • Flame Refraction: Kills with this weapon return a fraction of the ammo used to the magazine, extending the beam’s duration.
  • Composite Stock: This weapon has a versatile dual-purpose stock.
    • Slightly increases stability
    • Slightly increases handling speed
