Destiny 2 - What are Vanguard and Crucible Boons?

DLC Story

Guardians in Destiny 2 have been drowning in Legendary Shards ever since the game was released. Bungie’s most recent update has added several different ways for Guardians to spend them. Instead of filling up your inventory and getting all dusty, you can now purchase Vanguard or Crucible Boons from Commander Zavala and Lord Shaxx, respectively.

There are two types of Boons; Boon of the Vanguard and Boon of the Crucible. They are both consumable items that can be used during Strikes or Crucible matches. Commander Zavala sells one Boon of the Vanguard for 25 Legendary Shards, and Lord Shaxx sells one Boon of the Crucible for 10 Legendary Shards. The discrepancy in price can be explained by Strikes having only a three players, whereas a Crucible match typically has 8 players. Each player can only use a single consumable per activity, but all players in the activity are able to use one. You can receive a maximum of four gifts per activity.
