Who Are the Voice Actors in God of War?
God of War is a beautiful game on so many levels. The graphics are brilliant and the voice attacking feels natural and not at all scripted. There are only a few characters in the game but they’re all well developed and carve out their own special place in any gamer’s heart. Let’s have a look now at the voice actors behind these interesting characters in God of War.
Kratos – Christopher Judge
Christopher Judge is perhaps best known for his role of Teal’c in the various Stargate TV series and is making his debut appearance as the voice of Kratos in God of War. This arguably biggest voice role in the game was not originally planned to be voiced by him but he has taken it over and made it his own. Christopher is certainly able to deliver the trademark snarls and generally grumpy attitude of Kratos.
Atreus – Sunny Suljic
Sunny Suljic is a young up and coming actor with several TV and film appearances and he makes his first voice acting appearance in the role of Atreus, Kratos’ son. Throughout the course of God of War, Atreus has ups and downs causing his attitude to change frequently. Without spoiling anything, it is a testament to Sunny’s skills that at times I truly hated being around Atreus in the game. This was of course intentional and is a sign of the quality of his performance.
Baldur – Jeremy Davies
Jeremy Davies is no stranger – pun intended – to the silver screen with memorable performances in the TV series Justified and Lost. His role of Baldur, the main antagonist that Kratos and Atreus must face in God of War, is one that is very well written and Jeremy does an excellent job of portraying Baldur’s internal struggle and general hate for everything. To find out more about the role, have a look at our guide about The Stranger in God of War.
Mimir – Alastair Duncan
Mimir is one of the main characters in God of War in the sense that his head, and only his head, are at your side constantly. Quite literally, he’s strapped to Kratos’ belt for most of the game. Voiced by Alastair Duncan, who has plenty of voice acting experience, including most recently in the role of Celebrimbor in Shadow of War, Mimir adds to the lore, telling stories to Atreus, and acts as a guide for Kratos throughout the campaign. I suspect Mimir will easily be many players’ favorite character in God of War, and for good reason.
The Witch/Freya – Danielle Bisutti
Danielle Bisutti lends her voice to the brilliantly portrayed witch/Freya in God of War. Without giving away any story spoilers, this particular character plays a larger role than you might first think. Danielle does an excellent job throughout the story portraying this very intricate character. Note: We originally had the witch/Freya voice actor misidentified and apologize for any confusion.
Brok – Robert Craighead
Robert Craighead is one of the most versatile character actors in Hollywood can currently be seen recurring in Seth Rogen’s new TV series for Hulu “Future Man” as Det. Vincent Skarsgaard. He imbues Brok, the more grumpy half of the Dwarven blacksmith duo, with the kind of personality that only the voice of a well-season actor can provide.
Sindri – Adam J. Harrington
The other half of the Dwarven blacksmith team, Sindri, is voiced by Adam J. Harrington (as Adam Harrington). The Canadian-born actor has played roles in many TV series, including some personal favorites such as Dexter and Parks and Recreation. He’s also lent his voice and likeness to the character Tyson Latchford in Battlefield Hardline. Note: We originally had this linked to a different Adam Harrington and updated the article when Adam J. Harrington reached out to correct us. Our apologies.
At this point we know that Nolan North, Corey Burton (Zeus), and Troy Baker also play roles in God of War. Once we can confirm who voices whom, we will update this guide. In the meantime, head on over to our God of War Guide Hub for more great articles.
