What do you Desire? Guide | Kingdom Hearts 3's starting options and choices explained

Starting Options And Choices Guide

When you start up Kingdom Hearts III for the first time, you'll be met with a small cutscene that kicks off the game. Then, like with previous games in the series, you will be presented with a set of options that will define the character and playstyle you want to take with you for the rest of the game.

Starting Options And Choices Guide

Kingdom Hearts III's Starting Options And Choices

In previous games of the series, these options have been pretty straightforward in asking if you want to prioritize magic, defense, or attack and then asking you to drop one— but Kingdom Hearts III is shaking up that formula.

Wisdom | Vitality | Balance

The first options that the game will ask you to choose from are Wisdom, Vitality, and Balance.

Choosing Wisdom will give you a more significant amount of MP when you level up, but you'll get less health. Vitality is for those who want to get more HP while getting less MP while leveling up. As you can imagine, therefore, Balance means you want to get an equal amount of health and MP when leveling up throughout the game.

Guardian | Warrior | Mystic

The second options, Guardian, Warrior, and Mystic, are the more standard stats players have come to expect.

Guardian prioritizes defense and Sora will get defense abilities prioritized as he levels up. Warrior is for those who want to be fighting solely with their Keyblade, and Mystic is for those wishing to use magic attacks over anything else.

As you can imagine, mixing and matching specific abilities from both options can get you better effects. If you want to focus on magic, for example, choosing Wisdom to get more mp while leveling along with Mystic is the way forward.

Depending on how you want to play, however, and how much you want to challenge yourself, there is a choice for everyone.

Now get out there Keyblade warriors and defend the universe in the name of the light!
