The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening is coming to the Nintendo Switch later this year on September 20. Nintendo showed off a bit more of the gameplay during this year’s E3 conference, and several journalists got their hands on the title to give it a try. Another thing Nintendo is developing for the game is an exclusive Link Amiibo based off of the design from Link’s Awakening. You can pre-order that Amiibo right now, and we’re going to break down to detail what it does and where you can purchase it.

The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening Amiibo

What Does it Do?

There’s little information about what added effects the Amiibo is going to have for Link’s Awakening when the game goes live. What details we do have to describe the Amiibo as having an added effect to the customized dungeons that are coming to the game. The additional impact comes in the form of a Shadow Link. The Shadow Link is on the same level as the mini-bosses in the dungeon; however, it follows the player around until it is defeated.

It’s a fun element to add to the dungeons during critical moments players are going to face off against overwhelming odds. It’s an excellent way for players to increase the difficulty, making their dungeon stand out far more than others. Given how creative and dangerous the levels on Mario Maker were, the community can undoubtedly come up with some overwhelming labyrinths for others to attempt to overcome.

We do not know if there are additional effects from the Amiibo, outside of the Shadow Link function.

Where Can You Purchase Link’s Awakening Amiibo?

There are a handful of places you can place your pre-order for the item right now. BestBuy and Gamestop, both of the item up on their pages, allowing anyone to put money on the item. As of this writing, the Amazon page for the Amiibo does not have an official pre-order option. But you can add the item to your list, ensuring you’re notified immediately when the item arrives at their storefront. The links are located below.

The Amiibo runs for $15.99 across all websites.

The current release date for the item is on the same day of the game, so anyone who preorders the Link’s Awakening Amiibo can expect it to arrive when their game does.

What’s Coming to The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening?

Beyond the Amiibo, what can you expect from The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening? It’s going to be a remake of the original 1993 title, which released on Game Boy and later on the Nintendo 3DS. The game is going to come with updated graphics, controls, and is going to remain faithful to the original title as much as possible.

A brand new mode is coming to the game that’s a dungeon creator. In it, players can craft custom dungeons and then release those to share with other players. It’s similar to Nintendo’s Mario Maker game, where players make their own Mario levels and publish them for others to try. The Link’s Awakening Amiibo directly influences this mode.

You can preorder The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening for the Nintendo Switch right now. The game releases later this year on September 20.
