In Destiny 2, high-value targets are special enemies that can spawn into an area when you are playing. They are always tough, yellow bar, “Major” enemies, and if you are new to the game, they will put up quite a fight. When you kill them, they drop a loot box that you can open to get some loot and materials.

How To Find High-Value Targets

High-value targets are not constantly in any area of the game. Instead, they spawn in on semi-regular occasions. You get an on-screen message telling you that “a high-value target is nearby” when this happens. When it is killed, a message saying “A high-value target has dropped its plunder” will appear.

It is important to note that you need to do damage to the high-value target to get kill credit. It is not enough to be in the vicinity when it dies. As such, when an event is going on that has people hunting these high-value targets, be a nice Guardian and don’t just nuke them. Give everyone in the area a chance to get some damage in so that they get kill credit.

Generally speaking, an excellent place to farm high-value targets is at Exodus Black on Nessus. The Despoiler Captain there can spawn quite often if you keep reloading into a new instance by using the spawn point over and over. It has been considered the fastest way to farm high-value targets in the game for some time now.

Also, for some reason, the Despoiler Captain that spawns in Trostland doesn’t count as a high-value target, so keep that in mind as well. Below, you will find a list of high-value targets in Destiny 2 and where they spawn. The Destinygamewiki originally compiled this list.
