Control is a mind-bending adventure where Jesse Faden has to wrangle control back into The Oldest House, the headquarters of the Federal Bureau of Control (FBC). While Jesse investigates what’s gone on in the house, supernatural things are preventing her from venturing further. A notable boss battle in the game is between her and The Anchor. This weird, circular object with a whirling mess of things that continually spawn clocks in this large room. Here’s how you beat the boss to continue forward.

How to Beat The Anchor in Control

Pattern and Damaging

The whirling orb of destructing is your big baddie. This creature is continually whirling around in place as it patiently waits to take you down. You’re going to notice four platforms in the room, separated by significant gaps with an ominous, red glow coming up from it. You do not want to fall into it, as you instantly die. Hopefully, up to this point, you’ve been practicing your skills with levitating because here is where you show you’ve mastered them.

The first part of the battle focuses on the Anchor rotating as you’ll see it doing in the beginning. You want to float between the platforms slowly, watching for when it opens up. When it does, you’re going to see a massive red orb in the middle, which is the Anchor’s weak point. You need to fly an object directly into its mouth, damaging it. You need to continually float between the platforms, keeping an eye on the creature for that weak spot.

After you’ve damaged the first quarter of its health, it’s going to spawn floating minions at you. These things are going to float towards you, coming from the giant maw that is The Anchor. Avoid them as much as possible. While doing so, make sure you don’t end up in front of the Anchor. Doing so when it opens its maw invites near to instant death, as it shoots a beam out. You’ll have to switch platforms fast if you’re not expecting or watching the Anchor enough during the encounter. Hitting the maw with a weapon in it the middle of it prevents it from firing the beam.

You’re going to find this as a straightforward, easy encounter. The anchor doesn’t do too many creative things. The overall aggressive behavior of the minions do not impede you too much. You won’t have too many problems with the boss, as long as you prepare for the massive beam of light it fires out.
