Ghost Recon Breakpoint: Weapon and Gear Tiers, and What They Mean

What do the tiers and colors mean in Ghost Recon Breakpoint?

Recommended Videos

Ghost Recon Breakpoint features a wide variety of different weapons and pieces of equipment for your character to wear. You may recognize a handful of their names while you continue to play the game, but they’re going to vary in their passive perks and Gear Score. An equipment’s Gear Score determines how much power your character has. You’re going to notice your character’s gear score going up, but you’re also going to see a strict color associated with them. These are tiers. Here’s what the weapon and gear tiers mean in Breakpoint.

Weapon and Gear Tiers in Ghost Recon Breakpoint

There are five different weapon and gear tiers you need to worry about in the game. Here they are:

  • White – Common
  • Green – Uncommon
  • Blue – Rare
  • Purple – Epic
  • Yellow – Signature (legendary)

For those how have played any form of loot shooter, you’re going to recognize the formula. You have your basic weapons, your advanced ones, and the ones you’re going to earn when you play the game enough. There’s no shortage of tropes for this game, so you’re not going to enter it blindly.

If you want the best gear tiered possible, you want to make sure you have the best equipment possible. Do you want to earn more purple (epic) gear? Then you want to make sure you have more blue equipment on your character whenever you’re taking out an opponent, or you’re looting a particular base in a region. If you acquire a brand new item from a base or an enemy after you take them out, take the time to equip to increase your chances when you’re playing. These are going to take effect immediately, and you’re going to notice.

They work similarly to if you want to grind Gear Score. Gear Score does not equate to gear quality. You can have a purple item at level 65, but if you have a green item at level 90, it’s going to be a superior item for your character. Make sure you have the better Gear Score item rather than purely looking at the Gear tier when you equip it.

For those who are looking to get signature weapons, you need to spend time doing special missions in the game. These are going to be distinct missions for you to work through when you’re playing it.
