Here’s how to find the PlayStation game that started it all!
The remake of the classic PlayStation game Medievil is available now on PlayStation 4, and it’s everything that fans wanted. The classic gameplay remains intact with Sir Dan, but the new visuals are nothing short of spectacular. And it’s reasonably priced at around $30.
But there’s a fun little bonus for those that do some digging within the game: the original version of Medievil! Yes, the classic PlayStation version becomes playable within the game, provided you meet a particular goal first. It’s attainable, as long as you don’t mind doing a little searching.
Here’s the step-by-step breakdown on how you can unlock the original Medievil. Talk about a blast from the past!
Hope You Like Looking For Lost Souls
Medievil features several neat little collectibles, but the big thing you’ll want to keep an eye out for are Lost Souls. There’s one of these available in each stage, with 19 in all. And once you find one in a stage, you’ll see a marker that says “S” on a stage icon. This icon means you don’t need to go back into that level to look.
The thing is, finding the Souls aren’t enough. You have to lay them to rest in a specific spot for the task to get completed. Fortunately, once you come across them, they’ll give you a good idea of where to go.
For instance, the first Lost Soul in the Entrance Hall, Fisherman Formes, will give you a riddle about a fish. You’ll place his soul and then make your way to the Sleeping Village, where you’ll head to the right. There will be a lake there, with a fisherman’s bridge. Use the item that the Fisherman gave you, defeat all the enemies there, and finish the stage. It’ll show you completed the task, and you can move on to the next.
Do some exploring and keep an eye on the brightly colored spirits, as they usually turn out to be the Lost Souls.
Playing the Classic Game
Once you unlock all 19 of the Souls and complete the tasks that they give you, you’ll see an option on the main menu to play the original Medievil. Now, keep in mind that this is a 90’s game so that it won’t look as good as the new version. But it’s a fun blast from the past for those of you that may remember the original.
