Here’s what we know about the crossplay symbols in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare
You can play the new Call of Duty: Modern Warfare right now on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, or from the PC through Blizzard’s battle.net launcher. All are viable and reasonable ways to play the game with a group of friends. What’s more, players have the chance to play with other players, not on their platform. Those who are on an Xbox One can play with those on the PlayStation 4, and both consoles can join PC players in a match. Now players are going to see special symbols next to the profile names of those they’re with or against in multiplayer matches. Here’s what those symbols mean.
What Are the Crossplay Symbols in Multiplayer in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare?
Before you can see those symbols, you need to make sure you have cross-play enabled in your game. To check if you do, make sure to follow our cross-play guide to double-check, you have everything prepared. You don’t have to play the game with this feature enabled. So if you don’t want to play with anyone else other than those on your platform, feel free to turn it off.
Also, you’re going to have to go out of your way to find these symbols. You’re likely going to see them right before a match in the game, and they’re only with those in your squad. You’re going to see them to the right of the profile’s name.
If you have it enabled, and you’re good to go, here are the symbols for each platform.
PC
The first one is a bit obvious. You’re going to know you’re playing with someone who is on a PC and is likely using a mouse and keyboard by the “mouse,” icon next to their name. It stands out amongst the others defines how someone is spending their time. You can also see if they’re from a PC by the Blizzard battle.net launcher icon next to their name. This icon is going to detail they’re using a PC, based on their network.
PlayStation 4 and Xbox One
Much like the PC version, you’re going to see an indicator next to a player’s name with a controller and a PS network or an Xbox One icon next to the controller. These players are clearly on their console. PC players who stick to their keyboard and mouse setup are doubtful to encounter these. The only way they do is if they turn on their “Controller,” input in their options. This option is going to have it, so only their controller gets picked up during gameplay, disabling their keyboard and mouse.
This action levels the playing field because those who are going to use a mouse and keyboard have a significantly better advantage. A player with a mouse is likely going to be far more accurate than someone using a controller.
Those are the two different symbols you need to look for when you’re in cross-play. Again, if you’re a PC player strictly using a keyboard and mouse, you’re unlikely going to encounter console players who are using their controllers. You can certainly play with this crowd if you’re interested in jumping in with them, but you’re going to need to disable your set up and stick to a controller.
