Every week the Destiny 2 Leviathan Raid has a rotating Challenge. Players can decided to try and beat the Challenge to earn more loot, or can just perform the Raid as normal. The Challenge rotates across the four main stages of the Raid each week.

This guide will assume you have knowledge of how to complete the standard Leviathan Raid. If you are new to the Raid however, but want to try and complete the Challenge modes anyway, I strongly advise you check out our LEVIATHAN RAID GUIDE.

Calus Challenge Mode

During the Calus fight, you normally split into two group, with one staying in the Throne Room to fight enemies and kill Counselors while the other group is transported away by Calus to also shoot enemies and kill Counselors, but in a different place. All that stays the same during the Calus Challenge Mode, but the difference comes when you are trying to damage Calus himself.

To pass the Challenge you need to have all four plates being used at the same time. This will obviously impact how many runs it takes to kill Calus. Where normally you would all group up and jump on one plate, instead you need to jump on all four plates simultaneously. As such, it is best to assign each member of the team to a plate so that everyone knows where they are going.

There are a couple of important factors to remember in order to do as much damage as possible. Range dictates damage, so have two people on each of the close plates, and one person on each of the furthest plates. Make sure those on the furthest plates are best equipped to do longer ranged damage. For the two closer plates, have Guardians with damage buff rifts if they are in your fire team. It is much better to be buffing the damage from two people instead of just one.

The important thing to remember here is that it will take you a longer time to bring down the boss, so you may have to do more rounds than you are used to. It is not a very difficult Challenge though, thankfully, and experienced Fireteams should pull it off without much issue.
