Destiny 2 – How to Buy Faction Armor and Weapons

Destiny 2

In Destiny 2 it can be a challenge to Earn Faction Rewards and Reputation, especially when the randomness of the drops isn’t on your side. Fortunately, a recent update to the game has given us the opportunity to purchase faction armor and weapons directly from various vendors. But there are a few requirements. Read on to find out everything you need to know about completing the particular set of armor you’re interested in.

Faction Rewards

All the vendors in Destiny 2, with some notable exceptions listed below, now have a new section called faction rewards available. In this area they advertise the complete set of armor that is available from them. As you know, each vendor has his or her own specific set that’s related to the planet they reside on or the particular role they fill in the tower.

A class item, pair of boots, gauntlets, a chest piece, and a helmet are available at all times. A weapon is available for a limited time, meaning that each week, the weapon slot will vary. At the very least, this ensures that Guardians are able to complete a set of armor if RNGesus isn’t on their side. Each item will cost you a chunk of Legendary Shards and tokens specific to the vendor.

But wait, there’s a catch! Reputation still plays a key role in your ability to purchase the vendor specific items you’re after. Each slot requires you to have earned a certain amount of reputation with the vendor. The amount of reputation is measured by how many Reward Engrams you have earned and it is set as follows:

  • Class Item: 2 Reward Engrams
  • Boots: 4 Reward Engrams
  • Gauntlets: 6 Reward Engrams
  • Chest: 8 Reward Engrams
  • Helmet: 10 Reward Engrams
  • Weapon: 10 Reward Engrams

If you have the required amount of reputation, then you’re free to purchase the item. If not, you’ll have to grind some more tokens and resources to get there.

Notable Exceptions

While most vendors offer this new service to purchase Faction Rewards directly, some are notably not participating. Benedict 99-40, the raid vendor, for example, does not offer this service. The cynic in me says that was done on purpose to keep players grinding the raid. Banshee-44, the gunsmith, also doesn’t provide this service, but I believe that’s due to the fact that he doesn’t really have a specific inventory and pulls from a more general pool of gear.

That’s all you need to know about completing your Guardian’s outfits. I want to see a marked improvement in dress code and fashion sense in the tower from now on, folks! For more guides to help you out in Destiny 2, pay a visit to our Guide Hub.
