Assassin's Creed IV: single-player section needs Internet Connection for PS4 and other next-gen platforms
The single-player portion of next Assassin's Cred game "Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag" will require internet connection on PS4 and other next-generation platforms, according to Ubisoft.
The reason behind this decision of Ubisoft is, all the social features they are implementing for the game and the PS4 influencing this decision.
Ubisoft Creative Director, Jean Guesdon said, "ACIVBF will also be available on Next Gen consoles. In addition to improved graphics and physic, Next Gen versions will bring to the players new connected features allowing them to feel that even if they remain “Single Player” it will be better to be a “Single Connected Player"
He further added, "I mean, that Next Gen Consoles will allow players to have a solo experience that benefit the presence of a huge community."
The above statement of Jean Guesdon however didn't clarify whether this requirement directly means "Always On" connection or whether the single-player portion of Assassin's Creed 4 is playable and/or impacted without it.
However, it has been officially confirmed that PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 version of Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag won't have these feature, but regarding Wii U version decision lies with Ubisoft.
