Spencer Talks About Xbox One Fall 2014 & 2015 Line-up: "Crazy", Recent Price Cut "Big Move From Us"
Microsoft Xbox Division Boss in a recent Major Nelson Hryb's Podcast talked on lot of interesting things about Xbox One: "Fall 2014 line, what's coming in Holiday Season 2015 and the recent price cut of Xbox One for a limited time period".
Phil Spencer stated that the line-up for Xbox One for Fall 2015 looks "Crazy" and this the upcoming which is just few days away is pretty good time for Xbox One to compete against Sony's PlayStation 4.
"Looking at production schedules and how things are lining up next fall is just crazy. I mean, this fall from first party and third party standpoint is great.c Next fall, I honestly… It's not hype at all… I Honestly don't know that we can ship all the stuff that we're trying to ship next fall. It just might be too crowded and we might purposely try to move something out to spread it."
Coming to the Xbox One price cut which will be available for limited time (till Holiday Season 2014), Spencer stated that it's a Big Move from Microsoft and its pretty good time for them to go out and compete.
"I think the pricing that's going to run through the holidays is a big move from us. I think it's a good time for us to go in and compete. One thing I'm learning in the job is you plan this stuff months in advance. You gotta make sure you have the units there so people go into the store and actually can find the consoles at the right prices. Do all the inventory planning, do all the pricing, but I feel good about the bundles.
You've got Assassin's Creed Unity, you've got the Sunset Overdrive bundle, you've got the great Call of Duty with one terabyte hard drive… I think the diversity of what we're bundling and the different consoles that are there… Getting to reduce the price by fifty dollars across all the different consoles, I think it's a great opportunity, and it's a good time. It's a good time to be a gamer. I think the opportunity there to get something of value for you is gonna be all over the place. This holidays' black Friday will be crazy. People run their own deal on top of that, and we want to support that."
Microsoft surely had a pretty great start for Holiday Season 2014, Insomniac's Sunset Overdrive was very well received by critics and fans, and the upcoming line-up is also pretty interesting (especially Halo: The Master Chief Collection, Halo 5: Multiplayer beta and other third party titles).
On the other side, one of the major PlayStation 4 exclusive title, DriveClub performed badly and critics slammed the developer for nasty "Connectivity and Server" issues. This Holiday Season pressure is on both side, Microsoft has to cut short the massive lead PlayStation 4 has over Xbox One, whereas Sony have to maintain it. Who will win?
