Konami Provides "Additional Info" About Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain Save-Corrupting Bug
Konami has provided "additional info" about Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain save-corrupting bug, which activates on all platforms if you use Quiet as you buddy in Episodes 29 and 42. Looks like there is a temporary solution to fix this.
In the first place, the publisher stated the only way you could avoid the bug was to not use Quiet as a buddy in those episodes (not so original as a workaround…), but now we have some more info for you, just in case you won’t want to renounce to her sniping skills.
"As previously communicated, a critical bug has been identified that may halt progress and corrupt game save data under certain circumstances. Further investigation has revealed the exact trigger of the bug, so we would like to share these details to enable players to effectively avoid the issue.
The bug is triggered only under certain circumstances in Episode 29 or Episode 42 when Quiet is used as your buddy. However, you may still safely use Quiet in these missions if you use the Butterfly Emblem throughout the mission or avoid raising your Bond Level with Quiet to MAX during the course of the mission.
The team is currently working on a patch to fix the bug and repair any save data affected by the issue. Further updates will be announced soon. In the meantime, we apologize deeply for the problem and thank you for your continued patience as we work to resolve the issue."
Of course, this is just a temporary workaround in the wait Konami finally solves this bug. A very lonely bug, we must say: no other news of bugs have come from players and it is a bit rare nowadays, especially with such big open world games.
