The Legend of Zelda Wii U Map To Be 6x The Witcher 3, 10x GTA V and 22x Skyrim: Rumor
Size matters, in both real life and open world games. That's why people are already wondering about how much big The Legend of Zelda for Wii U's world is going to be. According to the latest statements coming from Nintendo about this topic, we can make some speculation, at least.
Producer Eiji Aonuma recently said the game would about the size of Kyoto, which is 320 square miles. While this number could tell you anything about the actual size of the game, making some comparisons with other open world titles could help you really understand what's happening here. 320 square miles would be:
- 22x Skyrim (around 14.3 square miles)
- 10x Grand Theft Auto V (around 31 square miles)
- 6x The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt (around 52 square miles)
Having such a huge The Legend of Zelda game would be a dream come true for many Nintendo fans, although this size makes us wonder about how many NPCs and random events could be placed in it, based on the raw power of Wii U (not a current gen machine à la PS4 and Xbox One).
By the way, this wouldn't make The Legend of Zelda the biggest open world game on the market. A few other titles are bigger than it:
- Just Cause 2 (400 square miles)
- Guild Wars: Nightfall (15.000 square miles)
- Test Drive Unlimited and Fuel (600 square miles and 5560 square miles respectively)
Moreover, there would also be some procedural games which are theorically infinite, such as Minecraft (also rumored to be coming to Wii U) and the upcoming No Man's Sky.
