Microsoft Hints DX12 Support Coming Rise of the Tomb Raider Soon, Build Showed At XB Spring Event Running In DirectX 12
It seems like DX12 might be coming soon to Rise of the Tomb Raider Windows 10 version. The hint came from Microsoft who went on confirmed that the Rise of the Tomb Raider build that was showcased at recently concluded Xbox Showcase Media event was running in DirectX12.
In a post on official Xbox website, Microsoft said:
"DirectX 12 Showcase: Rise of the Tomb Raider, Ashes of the Singularity, King of Wushu – Square Enix, Snail, and Stardock showcased their latest DirectX 12 enhancements for Rise of the Tomb Raider, King of Wushu, and Ashes of the Singularity on Origin PCs, iBUYPOWER Revolt 2, and Maingear PCs. Ashes of the Singularity is taking advantage the DirectX 12 multi-adapter technology, allowing PCs to use multiple GPUs, even from different manufacturers. Rise of the Tomb Raider was playable for the first time at the Xbox Spring Showcase running DirectX 12."
Neither Nixxes (the developer behind PC version of Rise of the Tomb Raider) nor Crystal Dynamics have hinted anything about DirectX12 support for the game, but this wording from Microsoft hints that it is just around the corner (possibly just a few days or weeks time). We have contacted a spokesperson of Microsoft for any official words on the release window. Stay tuned as we will update this post as soon as we get to hear something from them.
