Respawn: XB1 Is Not A Lead Platform For Titanfall 2, Development On PS4 and PC Getting Equal Treatment
Titanfall 2 is one of the most awaited FPS shooters of 2016. This time around Respawn Entertainment is targeting a larger audience for Titanfall franchise as the sequel will arrive on Xbox One, PC and also on PlayStation 4. The recent Titanfall 2 tech test brought a developer in contact with the series fans for some valuable feedbacks, and they got them in plenty, so event suggesting to delay the release as it is not up to the expectations and hype. It is all up to the big guys at Respawn and Electronic Arts to decide the further course of action from here on.
In a recent interview with our friend at DualShockers, Titanfall 2 Art Director Joel Emslie talked about some interesting topic related to the sequel: which is the lead platform for the game, is the resolution decided and many other things.
When asked whether Xbox One is the lead platform for Titanfall 2 considering the fact that the Microsoft's Xbox brand had an association with the original game? To this, Joel replied that there is no lead platform for Titanfall 2, the development team is treating all platforms equally.
"Now it's kind of weird, I think that everything is kind of built in tandem. You know, with the compressed timeline that we developed the game on, we're always doing everything simultaneously, so there really isn't a lead platform to develop on. We treat them all equal, with equal quality and equal approach."
When asked about the Resolution/FPS figure of Titanfall 2, Emslie stated that it is too early to talk about it, a final resolution for Titanfall 2 is not yet nailed down for any of the platforms, the development team is targeting to hit a constant 60FPS for the game.
"Everything that we put in a game has to go through a vetting process to make sure that it's right, and that includes resolutions. Making sure that we still get that 60 FPS, that low latency both in single-player and in multiplayer. We strive for that. That's really a huge goal in our minds. We feel that Titanfall runs its best at 60 FPS."
It's good to see that Respawn is giving preference to FPS over Resolution for Titanfall 2, this surely makes a lot of sense. What do you guys think? Share your opinion with us in the comment section below. Titanfall 2 will launch on October 28 for PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
