Konami: MGS V: The Phantom Pain Mission 51, "No Current Plans" To Release It As DLC

MGS V: The Phantom Pain Mission 51

Metal Gear official Twitter account has discussed a few interesting topic with fans wondering what's next in the Metal Gear Solid saga, in particular for what matters chapters that were supposedly cut from the main The Phantom Pain game when released last year.

MGS V: The Phantom Pain Mission 51

In particular, Konami has reiterated that "Mission 51", called Kingdom of Flies and featuring a fight between Liquid and Venom Snake, "is not complete, its development was cancelled prior to the initial release of the Phantom Pain", and that "the ending isn't and never has been missing, but this is a prequel game to Metal Gear (released in 1987)". "Both of those characters appear in later Metal Gear games, and provide additional story and plot to them".

Moreover, the Japanese developer and publisher has "no current plans to further develop for Mission 51", which means it won't be released as a DLC to the Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain experience, even now that a Definitive Experience is releasing on October 11.

Not the best news for Metal Gear fans, but actually not something's coming as a surprise if you've followed all the backstory behind the making of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain and game director Hideo Kojima leaving Konami to establish a brand new IP.
