"We want to challenge ourselves to find ways to also expand these elements to include cooperative multiplayer," they said in a blog post.

"We will always strive to be the best storytellers we possibly can, and we want these stories to be shared and elevated through players' cooperation. We believe that a multiplayer experience combined with Remedy's unique world-building provides an exceptional environment for that."

Remedy is working on "multiple future projects" that may included some form of multiplayer. The developer is using its own "Northlight" game engine and tools to help make this possible.Additionally, Remedy is now hiring a lead network programmer, who will "be at the center of developing and shaping the multiplayer technology and features of Northlight."

The developer has two internal studios at this point in the process, one working on a story campaign for multiplayer online title Crossfire 2.
