Sony: "Majority" of PS4 Pro Games Won't Be Presented At Native 4K Resolution

SIE's Andrew House has admitted the "majority" of games coming to PS4 Pro won't be offered at a native 4K resolution. Days following PlayStation Meeting, the event where the new and high spec PS4 was unveiled, the truth has finally been revealed.

"I would say the majority will be upscaled - at least based on the game portfolio I have seen to date," said House. Anyway, he doesn't think the message coming from the PlayStation Meeting event is misleading for people who might have been waiting for a native 4K console from the start.

"I think that whatever the term is, it's a question of whether people see a demonstrable difference in the game experience or not, rather than the term we use to apply to it. I think that's what people are looking for and they'll make their judgement as to whether that's working for them or not."

Only native 4K games confirmed for PS4 Pro are so far The Last of Us Remastered, The Elder Scrolls Online and Mantis Burn Racing. The other will be upscaled from a 2K resolution via a new much refined process called checkerboard rendering, which works similarly to the one Remedy used with Quantum Break to render 1080p images.

PS4 Pro releases on November 10 at $399.
