Quantum Break Engine Northlight Coming To PlayStation 4, New IP "P7" In the Works At Remedy
Great news for Remedy fans, as the Finnish developer is properly working for its next era. The partnership with Microsoft has reached an end after the not so great Quantum Break sales, so they're building a version of the proprietary "storytelling engine" Northlight for PlayStation 4. This is a serious hint at the multiplatform future of the software house.
On top of that, in a statement published on its website, Remedy offered further details about what's in the making in the studio. Currently, they are working on two projects, the first of which is a sequel to "one of the most popular games in the world in cooperation with the Korean publisher Smilegate". The guys behind CrossFire, with 650 million registered users.
A game project entirely built by Remedy is also in the works. It's codenamed "P7", which is planned to release "on a wider range of platforms, which is why Remedy is developing its Northlight technology also for PlayStation 4 consoles." At this point, we don't have further details about what this game currently is, but it is known that the studio is working on multiplayer functionalities after the feedback following the Quantum Break release.
“Over 20 years on the top of the global gaming industry is a great milestone achieved only by few other independent game companies. Our new board members bring solid experience from both gaming and financial industries and help us in executing Remedy’s growth strategy and to succeed also in the future,” CEO Tero Virtala commented.
