Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick Talks About Microtransactions
In a recent Media Conference Strauss Zelnick CEO of Take-Two the publishers of widely popular GTA series and upcoming Red Dead Redemption 2 talks about the micro-transactions in its games. According to him, there is more opportunity to add micro-transactions in the games, but the publisher does not rely much on the same compare to other publishers in the market.
He believes in not overloading the game with charges on basis of various available purchases in the game. Below is his statement published on Gamespot.
"You can't give stuff away for free in perpetuity; there's no business model in that," Zelnick said at the Cowen and Company 45th Annual Technology, Media & Telecom Conference today. "But we're not trying to optimize the monetization of everything we do to the nth degree.”
He further talks about applying a strategy without of most creative and ethical approach without causing any impact on the consumer interest. GTA 5 has sold over 80 million copies in the past years and the upcoming Red Dead Redemption 2 will do carry online features along with microtransactions.
