Shenmue III Offers 30 Hours Gameplay Length, Gamescom 2017 Trailer Was Completely In-Game
The debut teaser of Shenmue III was in the news for all the wrong reasons. The intention of the development at Ys Net (with the Shenmue III teaser) was to give Shenmue series fans just a short glimpse at the development progress made in the last two years, but instead of appreciating the initiative fans started blaming the developers for the weird Facial Animations without taking into the account that the release is still far away and the developers have enough time in the hand to make an improvement.
The outrage forced Yu Suzuki to issue a clarification on the Stiff Facial Animations seen in the first teaser. Speaking with our friend at GameWatchImpress, Yu Suzuki clarified that the facial animations in Shenmue III are still being worked on, and whatever details showcased in the trailer were temporary.
"Yes, we haven’t yet put in the facial expressions. Until a month ago, we had put in the facial animations, but for the moment, they’ve been removed."
That was not all, Yu Suzuki went on to share some additional new details about Shenmue III in order to bring down the damage done by the stiff facial animation controversy. Yu Suzuki revealed that Shenmue III teaser showcased at Gamescom 2017 was completely in-game and not pre-render.
When asked about what is the completion percentage of Shenmue III right now? to which Yu Suzuki replied: "Because this is various scenes tied together, saying how much [is done] is difficult, and as for the characters, everything is still temp data."
Lastly, Yu Suzuki revealed that Shenmue III will offer about 30 hours of gameplay length, and there is a possibility of Shenmue IV, but it all depends on how well Shenmue III performs. When asked by GamesWatchImpress - whether or not Yu Suzuki wants to make Shenmue IV or future installment in the series? he replied: "If I can, I want to."
