Destiny 2 Fails To Beat Destiny 1 In First Week Sales, Down By 58 Percent
According to UK Chart Track, Destiny 2 is the biggest launch of 2017 in the United Kingdom. Sadly, the game fails to beat the first-week sales figure of the original game, Destiny. The first-week sales difference is 58% between Destiny and Destiny 2, but it would be foolish to term Destiny 2 a failure because digital sales are not included in the UK Chart Track. Secondly, the original game, Destiny, was released on PlayStation 4, Xbox On, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, whereas Destiny 2 has skipped release on last-gen consoles.
To judge whether Destiny 2 is successful or not we need to give it enough time. In the first week, Destiny 2 sold 175,000 units, out of these 101,500 units were sold on PlayStation 4, and 73,500 units were sold on Xbox One. Compare this with the first week sales of Original Destiny game (total units sold: 417,000) - PS4: 192,000, Xbox One: 150,000, Xbox 360: 58,000 and PS3: 17,000.
