Just Cause Dev Avalanche Hiring For "Current And Next Gen Platforms" Project, PS5 And Next Xbox?
Avalanche Studios, the developer behind Just Cause video game series and recently released Mad Max video game, has been quiet on the next big thing coming from them. There's hardly any details on what exactly the Avalanche Studios is working - a brand new IP or a new Just Cause game or a sequel to Mad Max, none one in the industry knows nothing. However, it seems like there is a little bit of detail on what platforms the next Project of Avalanche Studios is going to arrive - NEXT-Gen Platforms - PlayStation 5 or next Xbox? Yes, that's what we can make out from the description of the new job listing that the studio has put up on their official website.
Avalanche Studio is looking for a Technical Director - Multiplayer and this is what the description of the job reads:
"Avalanche Studios is currently looking for a senior programmer to lead the development of our next generation open world/sandbox multiplayer engine. As the Technical Director for multiplayer, you will take ownership of the architecture and implementation of multiplayer in the Avalanche Apex engine. This is a great opportunity to work with some of the most complex and rewarding challenges in game development today; Open worlds, sandbox gameplay and highly destructible multiplayer environments... This is a rare opportunity for the candidate who wants to play an instrumental and leading role in a small team developing next-generation multiplayer experience. If you are a person who likes being challenged and stimulated in an ambitious and talented environment this position will suit you perfectly. Avalanche Studios is developing for both current and next-gen platforms."
This is not all - there is another job listing for a Senior Programmer and this is what the description of it reads:
"Avalanche Studios is currently looking for a senior programmer to join a small team developing our next generation open world/sandbox multiplayer engine. Avalanche Studios is developing for both current and next-gen platforms. A strong passion for multiplayer and open world games."
Does this mean Team Xbox is already working on a next-Xbox and we are going to see another mid-gen hardware upgrade? (regarding Sony - we all know that the reveal of PlayStation 5 is going to take place anytime - it's just matter of when). The word "current and next-gen platforms" doesn't surprise me a lot because we have already heard from Phil Spencer in a recent interview with Gamasutra that the next-Xbox console is already in planning stage - "And I've said, and this is actually true, the planning for what happens after Scorpio in the console space is already underway."
Are you surprised with the wordings of current and next-gen platforms? Share your opinion with us in the comment section below.
