PS4 Firmware 5.0 Error E-801809A8 Fix Releasing In Less Than One Week - Customer Support
Sony recently released PlayStation 4 Firmware 5.0, a major update that added a lot of interesting and fan-requested features such as Family on PSN, enhanced Twitch broadcast option on PS4 Pro, new features for Notifications, Messages and much more. Sadly, a handful of PlayStation 4 owners were unable to download and install the Firmware 5.0 due to Error Code E-801809A8 and the cause of it was said to be the Faulty Blu-ray drive. The Firmware 5.0 was released on October 3, more than a week have passed but we haven't received a fix for the Error E-801809A8? Sony Online Support Staff LordRoss recently stated via PlayStation forums that Team PlayStation is well aware of the issue and are investigating more on it. "Thanks all for reporting this, Just to confirm we are aware of the issue and are investigating."
No ETA? There are no official words from Sony on when exactly they are going to release the Fix for Error E-801809A8, but if a report coming out from few PlayStation forums users is to believed - the PS4 error E-801809A8 will be fixed via a patch which is expected to go live worldwide within ONE WEEk. PlayStation forum user "JI_MAN5" got in touch with the PlayStation Customer Support via Chat and asked for estimate time for the patch, and the response he got:
Herbert (Sony Customer Support): Thank you so much, let me explain to you what's going on. We're currently experiencing a glitch with this error code, our engineers are working on getting fixed as fast as possible, we're going to launch a patch to fix this issue, you will receive a notification on your console once this happens.
Me (JI_MAN5): Estimated time? Like before Friday
Herbert (Sony Customer Support): We expect this patch to be released in less than one week, I apologize for the inconvenience and thank you so much for the information. I understand that this must be very frustrating for you (I'm also having this issue).
Take this Estimate Time with a grain of salt as it comes from a Sony's Customer Support, however, there is big chance that it could turn out to be true.
