EIDewrito mod was brought down by Microsoft because it was a clear breach in the Halo intellectual property. As you might not know, the mod was using Halo Online assets which were meant to be played only in Russia for a short amount of time.

Interestingly, Microsoft has provided a couple statements about the road ahead for the Halo series on PC, making it clear that – while this modded version of Halo Online can’t work anymore – the demand for a Halo game on PC is set to be satisfied soon.

Halo PC EIDewrito Mod Controversy

“As we look ahead, we’re very excited about the prospects of an official classic Halo experience making its way to PC and we hope to be able to partner with the ElDewrito team and broader mod and content creation community to help inform the types of experiences and features our fans desire,” a post on Halo Waypoint, the official blog of the series, claims.

“While we have nothing to announce today, please know that the PC community is very important to us and top of mind as we work towards the future.”

On Twitter, Phil Spencer shared the news adding that “this point is important” and remarking the words about the future arrival of the classic Halo games in the post.

343 Industries’ Bonnie Ross also added that “I love and share in the passion for PC and classic Halo games, and know that we are investing in both moving forward.”

All of this, together with the past hint at Halo: The Master Chief Collection coming to the PC platform, seem to point at the release of the previous titles of the franchise on Windows 10.

In the future, even though Microsoft hasn’t made an official statement on the matter, Halo 6 is also expected to be an Xbox Play Anywhere game. At this moment, Halo 5’s Forge mode is available on Windows 10.
