DICE and Electronic Arts have shared the first details about the battle royale mode which is going to be featured in Battlefield V, now officially called Firestorm, as part of a new video.

The player count is fixed at 64 players, sixteen less than Call of Duty: Black Ops 4’s Blackout mode, and thirty six less than the standard set by Fortnite and PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG) back in the days.

The players are going to be split into 16 teams of four, on the largest map ever created for a Battlefield game, while the mode works exactly like any other battle royale title out there: you need to survive as the area where you can play and stay alive gets smaller and smaller.

The mode is set to be working “the Battlefield way”, so features "destructible buildings, weaponry, and vehicles," and in the video below you can already see tanks in action.

So, it looks like DICE has opted for a more conservative and team-based approach in comparison with the competition out there. Do you feel like this is the best approach possible for the franchise?
