Bethesda Announces Release Dates For Skyrim VR, DOOM VFR, Fallout 4 VR
QuakeCon 2017 begins tomorrow, and Bethesda is kicking off its annual convention with some major VR news. Fallout, Doom, and Skyrim's VR releases are all launching just in time for the 2017 holiday season.
The publisher announced release dates for their three upcoming VR titles. Skyrim VR, Bethesda's upcoming PlayStation VR Skyrim rerelease, will launch on Nov. 17 for the PlayStation 4. No release date was announced for an HTC Vive version, although GameSpot previously confirmed that Skyrim VR would launch on the Vive sometime in 2018.
After Skyrim VR's release, DOOM VFR will land for PlayStation VR and HTC Vive on Dec. 1. The game adapts 2016 DOOM's fast-paced first-person shooter action with gameplay tweaks to fit with the game's VR format, including a teleporting mechanism to move through the game's levels.
Finally, Bethesda is wrapping up the year with Fallout 4 VR, launching for the HTC Vive on Dec. 12. Like DOOM VFR, Fallout's VR release adapts the game's first-person action role-playing gameplay for virtual reality play.
All three games are playable at QuakeCon 2017 this year. There's no official word yet whether Bethesda's VR titles will see ports onto other VR platforms, or if any other titles will receive VR releases. But it seems likely that Bethesda will continue looking into VR in the near future.
