Rockstar Games has seen fit to grace us with a glossy new trailer for the upcoming HD version of L.A. Noire, and it looks excellent. The 4K footage of Team Bondi’s ambitious detective game has truly done the already fantastic-looking game plenty of good, as you’ll see in the trailer.
The enhanced version of the semi-open world tale of crime, passion, and drugs has had plenty tuned up in terms of aesthetics, specifically native 1080p and 4K on PlayStation 4 Pro and Xbox One X. It’s been spiffed up with better textures, lighting, and a bevy of other improvements.
While its graphical upgrades certainly aren’t anything to sneeze at, the Switch version will feature gesture-based Joy-Con controls as well as touchscreen options to improve on-the-go or console play. So while Switch owners don’t see the graphical bumps that PS4 and Xbox One X owners will, this does mark the first time the game has been available on the console, and touch controls could give it an interesting new dimension.
L.A. Noire is coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch on Nov. 14. HTC Vive owners get a special treat, though. L.A. Noire: The VR Case Files is coming as well, which features a set of missions from the original game reworked for VR. So if you’ve got a particular favorite mission you enjoyed playing through, you might find it in the collection to experience in virtual reality. It must be pretty crazy to call suspects out on their lies if you can sit with them, face-to-face.
In the meantime, you can pore over the pretty graphics and the sometimes unsettling uncanny valleys of the character animations. They look fantastic, but can still be a little weird sometimes. It’s a small price to pay for being an engrossing and stylish adventure, right?
